French apple tart with salted butter caramel

A flaky, crispy pastry, combined with naturally sweet tasty apples. A very simple recipe, and easy to make for both kids and adults. 
Reminds you of wonderful childhood memories, doesn't it?  

Ingredients For

  • Limousin Apple in a green background
    Limousin Apples PDO
  • 1 block
  • 2 tbsp
  • 80 g
  • 160 g
  • 200 ml

Preparation

Prepare the caramel sauce: melt the sugar in a saucepan on a low heat without stirring.
Add the half-salted butter and mix with a wooden spoon until the mixture thickens.
Add the cream and stir constantly. Leave the caramel to cool.

Preheat the oven to 200°C. 
Remove the apple cores and cut the apples into thin slices using a mandolin.

Roll out the flaky pastry dough to a thickness of 3 mm (tenth of an inch) and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.  
Evenly space the apple slices leaving a 1 cm (½ inch) gap around the sides. Sprinkle with caster sugar.

Then, bake for 15 minutes.  
Serve the tart warm with the salted butter caramel.   Bon appétit!
